A special event to remember New Zealand logician Arthur Prior (1914-1969) who initiated the first systematic investigation into the logic of time. His clarity of thought and sharp distinctions are a model of philosophical enquiry and many of his ideas subsequently became a theoretical foundation for research on time in philosophy, linguistics and computer science. Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) hosted a New Zealand Tent for their annual International Culture Festival - local Kiwi student volunteers and the New Zealand Centre came along to help, providing information about New Zealand history, culture, and education opportunities, as well as the opportunity to try New Zealand cheese and crackers. In March and April of 2014 more than sixty PKU students from different schools, colleges, and departments will rehearse and perform Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in the new theatre hall of the School of Foreign Languages, Peking University. The ANZAC Day Dawn Service for 2014 was held at the Australian Embassy in Sanlitun, Beijing, attended by Australian Ambassador HE Ms Frances Adamson, New Zealand Ambassador HE Mr Carl Worker, and Turkish Ambassador HE Mrs Bengdu Yigitguden. The event was attended by military attaches from more than two dozen countries, including China's Peoples' Liberation Army, to pay respects to the fallen. Read more...
