    Liu Shusen, Centre Director

    Liu Shusen of the College of Foreign Languages at Peking University is the China-based director for The New Zealand Centre at Peking University. As well as providing strategic guidance for the Centre, Professor Liu provides lectures on New Zealand literature for the New Zealand History and Culture course at Peking University. He serves as a key partner in raising the profile of New Zealand education in China.

    Liu Hongzhong, Centre Secretary

    Liu Hongzhong serves as the secretary for The New Zealand Centre and is primarily responsible for the organization of trips for Peking University students to New Zealand universities as part of an annual summer school programme. She is the term-time coordinator for the New Zealand History and Culture course at Peking University and provides instructional guidance students in the class.

    Professor Paul Clark, New Zealand History and Culture Course Coordinator

    Professor Clark is the academic director responsible for the New Zealand History and Culture Undergraduate Course which is a key project at the New Zealand Centre. At Auckland University, Professor Clark supervises doctoral and Masters research on Chinese film, modern Chinese literature and modern Chinese history. He frequently visits Peking University to assist and direct centre activities, lecturing for the New Zealand studies course, and conducting his own research on Chinese society.

    Libby Passau, Secretary for the New Zealand Advisory Board

    Libby Passau is the International Office Coordinator at the University of Auckland. Libby has been the secretary for the New Zealand Advisory Board since 2014 and coordinates the Advisory Board’s meetings, and the applications for Visiting Fellowships, Visiting Research Fellowships to New Zealand and for the Centre’s Liaison Officer positions. Libby has made two visits to the Centre and is in regular contact with the Centre’s staff.

    Claudia Mason (Feb 2019~ Jan 2020)

    Claudia studied a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Auckland, majoring in Psychology and English. She is currently studying Chinese at Peking University’s School of Chinese as a Second Language through the NZ-China Scholarship. Claudia is also a Liaison Officer at the New Zealand Centre, and a teaching assistant for the New Zealand History and Culture course.

    Dillon Anderson  (Feb 2019~ Jan 2020)

    Dillon graduated with an honours degree in photographic design from Massey University. Since then he has traveled the world as a photographer, covering a broad range of subjects, from wildlife to military operations. He now studies Chinese language at Peking University and is a Liaison Officer for The New Zealand Centre at Peking University, where he helps with hosting visiting academics or officials and assists with the undergraduate course New Zealand History and Culture. Dillon is a recipient of the New Zealand-China Scholarship and past recipient of the Prime Minister's Scholarship for Asia.

    Samantha Steel (Sep 2018 ~ Jan 2019)

    Sam is a graduate of the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Chinese and Asian Studies. She was also previously a Liaison Officer at the New Zealand Centre in 2016 while studying Chinese at Peking University as a recipient of the New Zealand-China Scholarship. She was studying towards a Masters in Chinese Studies at the University of Wuerzburg in Germany, on exchange at the School of International Relations at Peking University during her time at Peking University.

    Mia Chung (Feb 2018 ~ Jan 2019)

    Mia is a graduate of The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Conjoint degree, majoring in Geography and Chinese. She was studying Chinese at the School of Chinese as a Second Language at Peking University, and was a recipient of the New Zealand-China Scholarship. During her time at PKU she was a Liaison Officer at the New Zealand Centre, and a teaching assistant for the New Zealand History and Culture course at Peking University.

    Daniel Cullen (Sep 2018 ~ Jan 2019)

    Daniel's Major is in Linguistics and Chinese at Massey University's Auckland campus. While studying Business Chinese at the School of Chinese as a Second Language in Peking University,  Daniel is also a Liaison Officer at the New Zealand Centre and a teaching assistant for the New Zealand History and Culture course offered by the Centre.

    Tony Fiddis (Sep 2017 ~ Jan 2018)
    Tony is a law graduate of Victoria University, Wellington. He studied at present studying towards a Masters in International Relations at Peking University as a recipient of the New Zealand Prime Minister's Scholarship for Asia. He was awarded the Lingyun Award for Academic Excellence and is writing extensively on trade law and regulation.
