  • New Zealand Centre Hosts a Meeting with Massey and Shihezi Deans

     

     

    15/06/2019--New Zealand Centre at PKU hosted a meeting with representatives of Massey University and Shihezi University: Head of the School of Humanities of Massey University Dr. Kerry Taylor and Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shihezi University Professor Cheng Zhaoxiang. As an extension of the tripartite seminar attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Jan Thomas of Massey University and representatives from Peking University, Massey University, and Shihezi University on 11 June 2019, this meeting focused on details of some projects initiated at the seminar.

     

    On 15 June 2019,as Head of the School of Humanities and Director of the W. H. Oliver Humanities Research Academy at Massey University, Dr. Kerry Taylor had a meeting with Professor Cheng Zhaoxiang, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shihezi University, along with New Zealand Centre at Peking University staff Professor Liu Shusen and Associate Professor Liu Hongzhong. New Zealand Centre coordinated the meeting as an extended part of the tripartite seminar attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Jan Thomas of Massey University and representatives of three partners: Peking University, Massey University, and Shihezi University on 11 June 2019.

    At the meeting, the four attendees reviewed some of the highlighted projects as priorities of the possible extension of the existing three-brother tripartite collaboration and then discussed the important details and feasibilities of those projects in the specific contexts of the three universities, . They also agreed to catch up with some of the forthcoming events such as the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Shihezi University in early September. 
     

    Dr. Kerry Taylor has just completed his three-month visiting professorship project in the Department of History of Peking University from March to June 2019, which helps him engage more deeply and extensively with PKU colleagues in his research field. In the meantime, Dr. Kerry Taylor contributed to organizing the tripartite seminar and helped make it a successful one.
