Books Donated to the New Zealand Centre at Peking University
7/11/2018 Associate Professor Kerry Taylor, Head of the School of Humanities of Massey University, Libby Passau, Secretary of the New Zealand Centre at Peking University Advisory Board, and Professor Michael Roche of Massey University have generously donated books to the New Zealand Centre at Peking University, providing New Zealand Studies Undergraduate Course students with a set of valuable and unique materials.
On 17 October, NZC welcomed Associate Professor Kerry Taylor, Head of the School of Humanities, Massey University, who visited Peking University on his way to an international conference in China. During his short stay, he made a special effort to visit the New Zealand History and Culture Course to support the teaching staff and help with the teaching and tutorial. He also donated books to the Centre library on behalf of Massey University. The books received include New Zealand Between the Wars (Bell, R); Sport and the New Zealanders---A History((Ryan, G and Watson, G); Rebooting the Regions ( Spoonley, P. Tolley, E.) and The Journal of Urgent Writing ( Vol. 2. 2017).
On 10 October, Libby Passau, the Office Coordinator, International Office at the University of Auckland and Secretary of the New Zealand Centre at Peking University Advisory Board visited the New Zealand Centre and the undergraduate New Zealand History and Culture Course. She has also donated a book to the Centre Library Rewi Alley of China (Chappie, G).
The donated books
On 6 November, Professor Mike Roche arrived in Beijing for his two lectures for to the New Zealand History and Culture Course. The books he donated are: Turangawaewae – Identity and Belonging in Aotearoa New Zealand (Cain, T, Kahu, E, and Shaw, R), The New Biological Economy (Pawson, E) and Beyond Manopouri (Knight, C)
The donated books
The New Zealand Centre at Peking University is very grateful to receive such a generous number of books. The donations have significantly refreshed the Centre library, providing students with a unique and special resource for their studies - especially students in the New Zealand History and Culture Undergraduate Course.
