  • Prof. John Macalister from Victoria University of Wellington visits PKU

29/10/2018  Prof. John Macalister from Victoria University of Wellington visits PKU and had a productive meeting with the NZC staff as they followed up with proposals that were made during the NZC visit to Wellington in August.

On 29 October, Prof. John Macalister, Associate Dean (International), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington visited the Centre as a reciprocal visit of the PKU recent visit to Wellington.

During the meeting, the both sides caught up with the proposals that were made during the NZC August visit to Wellington. Feedbacks were available and further discussions followed as to how the both parties can better cooperate. The areas of discussion include joint Master’s programme in Intercultural Communication and Applied Translation (MICAT). The New Zealand Centre is happy to know that NZD10,000 scholarships are available to any international student in 2019 and 2020. Another possibility will be co-hosting a symposium or roundtable of New Zealand writers. Professor Damien Wilkins, Director of the International Institute of Modern Letters at VUW will be the main contact point. Co-teaching a course on Global Images of China to develop the interest in Pacific studies, Studying Abroad programmes, visiting scholars are also in the schedule. It is hoped that all the ways above will further strengthen the relationship between the two sides.
