  • On April 20th, 2016, the University of Auckland Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Engagement) Professor Jenny Dixon visited Peking University and met with the Director of the Office of International Relations at Peking University, Dr. Xia Hongwei; Director of The New Zealand Centre at Peking University, Prof. Liu Shusen; and world-known plant molecular biologist Prof. Deng Xingwang. Besides celebrating the successful signing of the MOU to strengthen the cooperation between NZ universities and the New Zealand Centre at PKU, they also updated and revised the Centre’s activities, and discussed management procedures of visiting NZ Centre Fellows program which will now include Chinese scholars. From the discussions a new Food Safety Collaboration Proposal was discussed.

    As Dean of the School of Advanced Agricultural Studies at Peking University, Prof. Deng Xingwang introduced the recent establishment of his School, including the priority research areas, faculty members, their research achievements, and their collaboration with local governments. He also invited Professor Jenny Dixon to visit his School and promote exchanges and cooperation. Professor Jenny Dixon hoped to host the visit of Prof. Deng Xingwang to the University of Auckland in the near future and make efforts to enhance cooperation between the University of Auckland and Peking University in food science and relevant fields.
