    NZCFS delegation led by society president David Bromwich attended a lecture delivered by Professor Pan Wei of the Peking University School of International Studies (PKUSIS) on the influence of Confucianism on present-day China and her governance system, followed by a banquet attended by several students from the New Zealand Centre's New Zealand Film Studies undergraduate course.     07/09/2014 - New Members Join the New Zealand Centre Advisory Board

    The New Zealand Centre at Peking University is pleased to announce that Massey University, Lincoln University and the Auckland University of Technology have accepted the invitation to join the Centre’s Advisory Board. They join the five other New Zealand Universities already on the Board.The Ministry of Business, Employment and Innovation has also been welcomed on to the Board. Read more...

    05/07/2014 - New Zealand Centre Chair Professor Jenny Dixon visits Peking University

    Chair of the New Zealand Centre, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Jenny Dixon of Auckland University, and her counterpart at Peking University, Vice President Professor Li Yansong, followed up with an early proposal of co-establishing a Chair Professor Programme of New Zealand at Peking University, to operate in cooperation with the New Zealand Centre.     Hongzhi Gao delivered the lecture "New Insights into China Market Entry: A SME Perspective, Value Co-creation, Relational Gatekeeping and the New Zealand Factor" - a Senior Lecturer in the School of Marketing and International Business at Victoria University.     A special event to remember New Zealand logician Arthur Prior (1914-1969) who initiated the first systematic investigation into the logic of time. His clarity of thought and sharp distinctions are a model of philosophical enquiry and many of his ideas subsequently became a theoretical foundation for research on time in philosophy, linguistics and computer science.     Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) hosted a New Zealand Tent for their annual International Culture Festival - local Kiwi student volunteers and the New Zealand Centre came along to help, providing information about New Zealand history, culture, and education opportunities, as well as the opportunity to try New Zealand cheese and crackers.     26/04/2014 - The Second Collaboration between Peking University and the New Zealand Court Theatre

    In March and April of 2014 more than sixty PKU students from different schools, colleges, and departments will rehearse and perform Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in the new theatre hall of the School of Foreign Languages, Peking University.     25/04/2014 - ANZAC Dawn Service held at the Australian Embassy in Sanlitun, Beijing

    The ANZAC Day Dawn Service for 2014 was held at the Australian Embassy in Sanlitun, Beijing, attended by Australian Ambassador HE Ms Frances Adamson, New Zealand Ambassador HE Mr Carl Worker, and Turkish Ambassador HE Mrs Bengdu Yigitguden. The event was attended by military attaches from more than two dozen countries, including China's Peoples' Liberation Army, to pay respects to the fallen. Read more...

    21/04/2014 - Dr Marc Lanteigne of Victoria University delivers guest lectures at Peking University

    Dr Lanteigne, Chair of Victoria University's China Research Center and senior lecturer of the History Department, provided a short lecture series on China's international relations in the Pacific Arena and the Arctic Circle, including “China and the South Pacific: Soft Balancing?” with assistance from the Peking University School of International Studies and the New Zealand Centre.     New Zealand China Friendship Society (NZCFS) President David Bromwich visited the New Zealand Centre, and discussed the Society's new youth initiative with New Zealand youth leaders over dinner at Peking University.     Dr. Margot Skinner visited Peking University as part of the New Zealand Centre Visiting Fellowship initiative, hosted by the Peking University First Hospital Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, delivering lectures on non-communicable disease, and exploring future possibilities for establishing a professional exchange programme for physiotherapy between the University of Otago and Peking University.     With kind support from the Peking University International Culture Festival Committee the New Zealand Centre was able to assist with preparations for 'Booth New Zealand' at the 10th Annual Culture Festival. Several New Zealand and Chinese students helped to dish out New Zealand cheese, chocolates, and pizza to a crowd of students, academic staff, and casual visitors all eager to learn about New Zealand history and culture.
