  • University of Auckland Alumni and Partners Reception in Beijing

    On the evening of the 23rd of April 2015, The University of Auckland hosted the Beijing Alumni and friends reception. The event was held at the New Zealand Ambassador’s Residence and hosted by Ambassador to China, John McKinnon. The reception provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect, establish new connections and meet with key staff of The University of Auckland.

    The reception commenced with a warm welcome from The Univesity of Auckland Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stuart McCutcheon, followed by an address from Professor Jenny Dixon, Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Strategic Engagement).

    Approximately 60 people were in attendance, including Chinese graduates who had returned to China to join the work force. Alumni also consisted of more recent graduates. Among those were were Tammy Groves and Alex Cheah, New Zealand Centre’s current liaison officers, both graduates from The University of Auckland.

    Earlier in the week Director of Alumni Relations and Development, Mark Bentley also paid a visit to the New Zealand Centre at Peking University. Mr Bentley was keen to hear about the New Zealand Centre and The University of Auckland’s collaboration and their efforts to maintain a strong relationship between China and New Zealand.
