The International Award for Public Art (IAPA) 2015 awards ceremony, exhibition and conference this year was co-hosted by Elam School of Fine Arts at National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries (NICAI), the University of Auckland, and Shandong University of Art & Design (SUAD).

The bilingual (English/Chinese) conference titled ‘Cities in a Climate of Change: ‘Public Art, Environmental and Social Ecologies’ provided an opportunity for artists, curators and urban practitioners from all over the globe to come together and explore ideas of art and urbanism.

The VIP Reception was held at The University of Auckland’s Fale Pasifika on 1 August. Professor Jenny Dixon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chair of the New Zealand Advisory Board, warmly acknowledged key individuals (including sponsors) who were instrumental in facilitating the IAPA and bringing the event to Auckland.

The winner of the IAPA 2015 award was announced at the Auckland Art Gallery later in the evening. Jasmine Patheja took out the award with an experimental art project called ‘Talk to Me’. The project focussed on bringing attention to sexual harassment of women in India.
